2010 Radiology Crawfish Boil

Gaven REALLY didn't want to take a nap today. Jason talked him into it by telling him that when he woke up, we were going to go eat bugs. Apparently, crawfish are sometimes called mud bugs. Tonight was the annual Radiology Crawfish Boil at Dr. Montgomery's plantation. Gaven got super excited about the prospect of eating bugs. He took a good nap and the second he woke up, the words out of his mouth were, "Eat books." We couldn't figure out what he was telling us, because surely he didn't want to eat his books, so we told him to show us. He immediately went to the front door and pointed to it, again saying, "Eat books." It was then that it dawned on me that he was telling us he was ready to go eat bugs. His fascination continued once we arrived. Even after all the other kids left, he was still sitting there watching those poor crawfish trying to find a way out of the bag.

One of the MANY pots of crawfish cooking.

The kiddos all sat and ate hot dogs while the adults were waiting for the first batch of crawfish.

Not sure what's happening here.

Another sweaty night for Braeden.

Carsen digging into the dessert.

Don't let this next picture fool you. None of the boys would even try them. Even after Gaven was so excited to go eat bugs.

Dr. Montgomery lit a huge pile of sticks and wood on fire, which was a highlight for my boys. It was amazing how far back you could stand and still feel the heat!

Our little Jedi

In Gaven's words, this next picture is of "Daddy, Mommy and Ya-La" (that's how his name comes out - nothing at all like Gaven!).

Here is a good portion of the women of radiology. From left to right (back row): Kasey, Lori, Brooke, (front row) Elisabeth, Angela, Me, Paulina and Julia.

We finally took off around 9pm, even though we wanted to stay later, it was getting late for the boys. Gaven, of course, had to give the dog a bye-bye kiss.

We're already looking forward to the 2011 Radiology Crawfish Boil!!

My boys LOVE the crawfish boil!! They eat, and eat, and eat crawfish the whole time :) Stay here a few more years and they'll turn into real Texas boys and be chowing those things.
