Starting at 10pm Monday night, the rains came in. Not just drizzle and not here and there... it POURED ALL NIGHT LONG. Gaven was scared of the rain and didn't sleep a wink, therefore, Jason and I had some good quality time with our youngest, passing him back and forth from my sleeping bag to his. The next morning, we took our cooking stuff and drove over to a covered area to have breakfast.

The little monkey that kept us up all night.
Braeden enjoying some toast with jam.
Carsen just being
Carsen.

Despite the rain overnight, it let up a little bit after breakfast, so we decided to brave a hike. We took our ponchos, prepared for anything.

If you ask me, Gaven had the best seat in the house!

This is when it's nice to have boys! (I was a little slow on the trigger)

Our plan was to head back to camp, get a fire going, cook what we were GOING to have for dinner and have it for lunch instead. Then we would pack up and head out. It was supposed to pour the rest of the day (leaving us with very little to do) and then through the night, and let up the next morning. Our original plan was to say the night and head out in the morning anyway, so we changed plans and decided NOT to stay another night. We were all a little disappointed, but it ended up being the better decision. Here are the boys, sitting on the back of the van, under the tail gate, staying dry, while eating their hot dogs.

Here is what Jason and I were doing (me not pictured only so I could take the picture, but I was out there with him, too). The one thing you CAN'T tell in this picture is that the pouring rain had begun again!

I took a break from roasting hot dogs, to snap a quick picture with
Braeden and
Carsen. Not sure what they are doing, but you can see the huge puddles forming around our campsite just behind us.

Needless to say, we had a lot of laundry when we got home and a lot of hosing off the muddy gear. It's hardly worth it when you think about the fact that we were only there for 24 hours, but the boys had a blast and we have some great memories. Can't wait to do it again, soon!

Didn't you do the rain dance that makes it go away? Those puddles look like anything but fun! Sure glad you had fun anyway!
