Generally, when you hear the word peeps around Easter time, you think of those nasty marshmallow candies coated with sugar died some festive pastel color... HOWEVER, at our house when we hear the word peeps, we immediately remember that we're in the process of potty training.
Carsen is doing SOOOO well. We're so proud of him. We tried a few weeks ago, knowing that Daddy was home for a couple months and could give me some help. Carsen was more than ready to start the process, but we were frustrated with just the first day. He wouldn't and couldn't go potty on the toilet. One time while pushing to go #1, a #2 squeaked out, but "no peeps" as Carsen would say. We must have sat on the toilet 20 times that day and not a single drop. Then, 2 minutes after sitting, we would soak our underwear!! Ughh... this is going to be a long process!
We decided that maybe he wasn't ready. Just 3 days ago, he started getting frustrated with his diapers and wanted underwear again. When I looked at the pile of diapers with just 4-5 left, I decided, "Okay, we're going to just do this." No more diapers. Only pull-ups as long as we need during nap and nighttime.
The first day was a huge success. He pooped once in his underwear, but other than that, stayed dry all day long. He was finally able to dribble a little in the toilet to start and then it's all history. He's been dry for 3 days, and we believe, as far as we can tell, he's waking up in the morning and after nap dry, too. He's even pooped on the potty (after telling us he had to go) and told us a couple times, "Mommy, I have to peep." I know, it sounds goofy, but that was his making up, not ours.
We're so excited, and I'll keep you posted on his progress and success.
