MATCH DAY!!

I'm pretty sure you all know, but just in case there is anyone that didn't know... Jason matched for residency in Temple, TX at Texas A&M/Scott and White Hospital. That's where he'll do the next 5 years of his training. These first pictures are from the night before match. There was a get together at Salsa's... so we went. We thought we'd be able to mingle with his classmates that were there, but they all sat in the bar, and of course, with the kids, they seated us at a table . . . ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK OF THE PLACE!! Oh well, it just became a nice family dinner to try and calm the nerves of the upcoming day.

MATCH DAY!
The next day was match day... where almost every medical student in the US finds out where they will be going for residency. They call it match because it's a computer match system that tries to match you with your highest choice and the programs with their highest choices.
They have a box with an envelope for each student. They call you up one by one, randomly to pick up your envelope so you can bring it back to your family and open it to see where you'll be going. There are about 200 students in Jason's class and he was called around 175. It was grueling to wait! Here's a picture of he and the boys coming back up the steps with "THE ENVELOPE!"
Later that night we got a babysitter for the two older boys and went to UTMB's Match Night Party with Gaven. For the first hour and half or so, there was food and mingling. Once the music started, it was REALLY loud. Gaven didn't even blink, you wouldn't have even known. He's asleep on Jason's leg.

So now that the wait is over, we know where we're going and everyone's a little bit less stressed, we now get to go house shopping tomorrow. It's a little stressful, but mostly just exciting.

Yay! It's nice to know where you are going to spend the next 5 years of your life. Is Jason specializing in anything?
