Halloween 2007

This Halloween I wasn't as motivated when it came to our costumes. We had talked about the family all being a different train from Thomas (Braeden liked that idea, but I was having a hard time finding the motivation to make the costumes). We were saved when Auntie Sabra found these costumes at Old Navy. Nanu, being generous as she is, bought them for us. There's more to the story. For a while now, we've called our boys "Skunky" and "Monkey." Braeden became skunky when we realized he could toot with the best of them. He spent months telling people that his mommy and daddy call him skunky because skunks make stinky smells and he makes stinky toots. Carsen became monkey, not only because it rhymes with skunky, but because he's our little monkey. So when Auntie Sabra found these two, it had even more meaning, and she couldn't resist.

At our church Halloween Party, they did some face painting, so we had them finish off their costumes with a little face paint.

The boys were less than thrilled to have the face paint on. They both left it on long enough for us to take a few pictures and then insisted that daddy wipe it off.

After the party, we headed out for a little house-or-treating. Since at the church we call it trunk-or-treating (we trick-or-treat at people's trunks), Braeden thinks it should be called "house-or-treating" when we trick-or-treat at houses.

There's nothing quite like trick-or-treating in the neighborhood that we went to. They have an officer at the front entrance directing all traffic in a certain direction as to avoid any pile-ups. People sit just outside their doors and wait for the kids because there is a constant line of trick-or-treaters. This was the first lady that was inside her house. She was peaking out when the boys came. She apologized for not having any "good" candy left... she'd given out 600 pieces of candy and "only had suckers left." Little did she know that that is the boys' favorite!

Here are Carter, Braeden, Ava and Carsen after trick-or-treating. This picture didn't quite capture the sweat that the 4 of them had when we took off their costumes. It was the warmest night in about a week and a half, and the humidity was yucky, too. But, nothing could stop us from having some Halloween fun.

Oh cute!!! That's amazing she found the perfect costumes for them - wow. What great memories. I just LOVE that photos of them less-than-amused to have face paint on. It's those funny unhappy photos that I think are sometimes the best to keep around and show later :) I love reading your posts!
